MAKE A CHECKLIST:
First of all, make a checklist of your tasks like i.e what you’re expecting from it and believe me if you’ve done this part correctly you’ve won almost half of the battle.
Laptop Budget:
This is the most important step before buying anything. Always try to be within your budget and see the laptop within it. Sometimes you think that the laptop which is expensive than your budget is good and you stretch your budget don’t do this no need for it.
Platforms:
Then it comes to the platform you want to buy like Windows, Linux, or Macbook. I will be talking about windows here, will discuss the other two may be in the future.
Form Factor:
IT tells how big or small a laptop you need. If you want to do office work or study then 13 or 14 inches is good and it’s easily portable also but if you want to do gaming and editing then you need a big screen which means you need to buy a bigger laptop.
Web-Cam:
Today webcam is a need of the hour as meetings and classes are held online. Thus do make sure that a built-in microphone and webcam are present in your laptop and of good quality, too.
Build-Quality:
Build quality is the most important and ignored aspect. Generally when you buy a laptop from a low profile company you get it at a cheaper rate but it has poor build quality as if accidentally it slips from your hand and hits the ground it results in complete breakage of the laptop and ports. Do consider it thoroughly.
Laptop’s Ports:
One thing to keep in mind we don’t need an optical drive now. Discarding this we should have one USB type C port along with 3 normal USB ports. And if one of the ports is faster like 3.0 then it would help to transfer the data in minimum time.
Audio/Video:
Generally laptops do not have very good speakers. SO I would suggest you have some external speakers if you are fond of louder music otherwise handsfree would do your job.
SSD/Hard-Drive
If you want your laptop to do things fast then go for SSD. It will minimize your time. Some laptops have options for both while some have only one. I would suggest going for both if you have that budget otherwise go for SSD only.
RAM:
Finally let’s talk about the RAM’s very significant aspects today. Go for 8 GB RAM for minimum because with 4GB you would face many troubles of storage and speed. And if you’re a gamer then go or 16 or 32 GB.
Graphic Card:
AS I mentioned in the article on CPU VS GPU if you’re not a gamer or video editor then your integrated graphic card will do the job. Don’t waste your money on useless things.
I hope I have given you the all aspects you should see before buying any laptop. If you need more guidance on technology stay with us as more content is on the way.
